John Spillett Jazz Band
John’s Jazz Band (duo, trio, or quartet) is a versatile, straight-ahead jazz group formed in 1997 featuring some of the finest jazz musicians in Central New York. The group performs jazz standards from the Great American Songbook encompassing a wide spectrum of jazz styles including swing, Latin, ballad, bebop, blues, modal, and contemporary. Compositions performed include the music of Burt Bacharach, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Lerner and Lowe, Henry Mancini, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart, Jimmy Van Heusen, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Carlos Santana, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Heath, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, Marvin Gaye, Lennon and McCartney, David Sanborn, Steely Dan, Grover Washington Jr., Stevie Wonder, Boney James, The Zombies and others.
John’s Jazz Band has performed at over 300 professional engagements throughout Central New York including restaurant engagements, wedding reception cocktail hours, wine tastings, fundraisers, jazz festivals, jazz concerts, private events, and corporate functions. The Jazz Band has performed at many Syracuse area venues including Anyela’s Vineyards, The Sherwood Inn, Mirabeau Inn and Spa, Creekside Books and Coffee, Cora D’s, Syracuse Suds Factory, The Mandana Inn, The Maplewood Inn, Dolce Vita, and Saltine Warrior Sports Pub. Most recently they have been regular performers at Moro’s Table in Auburn and The Blue Water Grill in Skaneateles. The group performs a wide spectrum of musical styles including swing, Latin, pop, rock, Motown, R&B, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, blues, funk, and ethnic. The Wedding/Party Band has performed at over 1000 professional engagements throughout Central New York including wedding receptions, private parties, cocktail hours, anniversary parties, retirement parties, holiday parties, corporate functions, fund raisers, banquets, dinner dances, outdoor concerts, school proms, and alumni reunions.
